Norway
 Norway’s Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Pål Golberg won the world title in
the men’s team sprint (freestyle) in Planica last year.
 Klæbo and Golberg are back together to form a duo in the men’s team
sprint in Lahti.
 Klæbo and Erik Valnes won the most recent men’s team sprint in the World
Cup, in Lahti on 24 March 2023.
 Klæbo formed a duo with Emil Iversen in the last men’s World Cup team
sprint in the classic style, which they won in Lahti on 10 February 2019.
 The last seven men’s World Cup team sprint in the classic style were won
by either Norway (5) or Russia (2).
 Norway won six of the 10 men’s World Cup team sprints in the classic style
in total (three wins by Russia, one by Germany).
Other contenders
 France won two men’s World Cup team sprints (both in the freestyle), with
Renaud Jay being part of both teams: in Dresden in January 2020 (along
with Lucas Chanavat) and in Livigno in January 2023 (along with Richard
Jouve).
 Italy has won eight men’s team sprint World Cup events (all in the
freestyle), third-most behind Norway (15) and Russia (11). Italy’s last win
was in Ulricehamn in February 2021.
 Italy’s Federico Pellegrino and Francesco De Fabiani finished second in
both men’s World Cup team sprints of last season, in Livigno in January
2023 and Lahti in March 2023.
 Pellegrino (3) can equal the record for most World Cup wins in the men’s
team sprint, held by Alexey Petukhov, Tor Arne Hetland, Cristian Zorzi, Ola
Vigen Hattestad and Nikolay Morilov (all 4).
 Finland claimed four World Cup podiums in the men’s team sprint, most
recently a third place by Ristomatti Hakola and Joni Mäki in Planica on 22
December 2019. Finland has yet to win this event in the World Cup.
 Swedish duosfinished runners-up in men’s World Cup team sprint events a
record 13 times. Sweden’s last of five wins came in Düsseldorf in
December 2011 (achieved by Jesper Modin and Teodor Peterson).
 The best results for USA in men’s World Cup team sprints are three fourthplace finishes, most recently in Pyeongchang in February 2017.

Sweden
 Sweden (13) is chasing Norway (15) for most women’s team sprint wins in
the World Cup.
 Since 2015, Sweden won 11 of the 14 women’s team sprint events in the
World Cup. Russia (1), Switzerland (1) and Slovenia (1) follow on one win
each in that period.
 Sweden won the most recent women’s World Cup team sprint, in Lahti on
24 March 2023 (first place by Emma Ribom and Jonna Sundling), one
month after the pair had claimed the world title in the women’s team sprint
in Planica.
 This is the first women’s World Cup team sprint in the classic style since
February 2019 (Lahti), when Maja Dahlqvist and Ida Ingemarsdotter won
ahead of Norwegian duo Tiril Udnes Weng and Maiken Caspersen Falla.
 That win in Lahti in 2019 marks Sweden’s only victory in a women’s World
Cup team sprint in the classic style.
 Maja Dahlqvist was part of seven of the last eight Swedish wins in
women’s team sprints in the World Cup.
 Only Norway’s Marit Bjørgen (10) and Hilde Pedersen (7) have won as
many women’s team sprints as Dahlqvist (7).
 Sundling finished inside the top two in five of her last six appearances in
women’s team sprints in the World Cup (2-2-5-1-2-1).
Other contenders
 Norway (15) has won the most women’s team sprints in the World Cup, but
none of the last 14.
 Norway’s last team sprint victory in the women’s World Cup was in the
classic style in Nové Mesto na Morave on 12 January 2014 (Maiken
Caspersen Falla and Ingvild Flugstad Østberg).
 Norway finished on the podium in three of the four women’s team sprints in
the World Cup in Lahti, including a second place last season on 24 March
(Anne Kjersti Kalvå and Julie Myhre).
 Slovenia’s only women’s team sprint win in the World Cup came in
Ulricehamn on 7 February 2021, when Anamarija Lampic and Eva Urevc
emerged victorious ahead of Sweden (+0.18), Switzerland (+0.25) and
USA (+0.31).
 Germany’s Victoria Carl and Katharina Hennig claimed the gold medal in
the team sprint event (classic style) at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter
Games. Germany’s last World Cup win in a women’s team sprint event was
14 years ago in Rybinsk (24 January 2010).
 United States’ only World Cup win a women’s team sprint event was
achieved by Jessica Diggins and Kikkan Randall in Quebec on 7 December
2012.
